Admission Requirements
|
|
The Center accepts applications from
all persons whom have complete a high school education, and two years of
post-secondary education (this pre-requirement may not be necessary to
applicants from outside British Columbia, Canada). OCAH seeks students who
show the potential to become caring, dedicated and skilled practitioners
of Traditional Oriental Medicine, and who can demonstrate the maturity
and preparation necessary to undertake the challenges of the program. The
Center is committed to a policy of equal opportunity. Admission is
open to all qualified applicants. Equal educational opportunities
will be provided to all persons, regardless of race, religion, gender,
national origin, marital status, sexual preference, age or physical
handicap.

Hours of Instruction
|
|
In total, approx. 1,980 hours will be
offered for the Acupuncture program (3 academic years).

Academic Year
|
|
We enroll students three times a year,
January, May and September.
One academic year is 30 weeks. It
usually starts on the first week of each of these months. New students
are urged to register as early as possible. Late registration is accepted
on special approval of the Principal only, depending on the space
available.
You may finish the 3 year program
within two years if you do not take summer break.
Detailed schedules will be mailed to
successful applicants.

Tuition Fees
|
|
The tuition for full-time students is $9,500 in Canadian currency
per academic year. $1,500 should be paid on the first day of school year
accompanied by four post-dated checks in the amount $2,000 each,
beginning the first day of the second month through the first day of the
seventh month. Tuition will not increase after enrollment. The tuition
for part time student is $270 per credit. A credit is given for every 15
hours of study.
Students should make allowance fore
approximately $500 in book costs and workshops per academic year, which
is not included in the tuition fee.

Foreign
Students
|
|
Foreign student tuition will be the same as local residents.
Students are required to be proficient in written and spoken English. Students
from non-English speaking countries may be required to achieve the
minimum TOEFL score of (500 or higher) or equivalent for English
proficiency.

Book and Supply Cost
|
|
Students should make allowance for approximately $500 in book
costs and workshops per academic year, which is not included in the
tuition fee.

Application for Admission
|
|
Interested applicants
should fill out the application form for admission and send it to the
College for consideration. A certificate of admission will be mailed to
the accepted applicant as soon as possible. A non-refundable
application fee of $100, which is not credited towards tuition, must
accompany all applications. Upon acceptance a $500.00, non
refundable, tuition deposit is required to hold your seat in the program.

Evaluation of Academic Achievements
|
|
Each student must attend classes regularly
with a minimum of 80% attendance required in order to write the final
examination for a given course. Students must achieve a minimum of 60%
grade in order to pass and also achieve a minimum of 70% in the
comprehensive graduation examination in order to graduate from the
College.

Transfer
of Credits
|
|
Transfer of credits from another
recognized school
of TCM may be
accepted, but the number of transferred credits of one academic year should
not exceed the number of credits (hours) normally earned by a student at
the College in one academic year. The above rules and regulations are
subject to review from time to time in order to maintain and upgrade the
standards of Oshio College of Acupuncture and Herbology.

School Policy
|
|
In order to maintain the standard of education in our program, we
have established policies that will ensure the best possible care for our
patients and preparation of our graduates. It is your responsibility to
read and be familiar with these policies. Ongoing monitoring will occur
to ensure the standards are met and the policies will be enforced.
